Information for your Newborn session
Thank you for booking with Wild Wren Photography to capture these precious days.
I know you most likely have looked through a lot of photographers to get to this point, and It means the world to me that you find yourself here….
Welcome.
My Studio
My home studio is a special place! When I started Wild Wren, I put a lot of focus on having the right space for my sessions.
I use natural light only which gives a beautiful soft light and helps create my natural style, I have plenty of props for baby, and drinks and snacks in case you get peckish!
You will find the address on your welcome email.
Before your session
Sessions are usually in the morning around 9ish, this is when most babies are at their best. Before the shoot, feed baby 2-3 hours prior, so he or she is ready for a really good feed when they arrive. For the 1-2 hours before our session, try to keep baby awake more than usual—let them kick with a nappy on, tickle their toes, and give them lots of fuss and play! Keeping the baby awake before our session will help ensure those squishy, sleepy newborn pictures!
While the above is ideal, don’t let these guidelines worry you; the baby may fall asleep in the car and might need feeding, we all know who the boss is!
What to bring
A dummy can be extremely useful for settling baby purely for the photos.
Spare nappies
Extra formula bottles (if bottle-fed)
I have some drinks and snacks - but you are more than welcome to bring what you think you might need.
Newborn Posing
Every baby is different - therefore every session is different too. I follow the same posing flow for each session, but this does not mean it produces the same results. Each baby will have its own preferred positions and cheeky quirks - and that is what I like to capture.
What to wear
I have everything needed for your little one, but please dress baby in a front-opening babygrow with no vest, so I can easily undress them with minimal disturbance.
Simple, neutral, lighter coloured outfits for the rest of you—think creams, ecru, and earthy tones. If you prefer a darker colour - terracotta browns and sage greens all look beautiful.
It can get quite warm in the studio, so layers are a good idea! I do not have shoes in the studio, so don't worry about wearing your best shoes.
For Mum—strapless or off-the-shoulder tops allow for lovely skin-on-skin photos with the baby. For Dad—a plain white T-shirt works great. Ultimately, wear something that makes you feel confident!
Siblings
Anything neutral/earthy/creamy looks beautiful. But do feel free to dress your little one how you like, as they get older they get their own little style, I get it!
